The Renault Clio has been one of the most familiar cars on Turkish roads for years, serving private drivers, rental fleets and company users alike. The 2026 New Clio keeps the formula that made the model popular but changes enough underneath and inside the cabin to feel like more than a routine facelift.

The current Turkish-market car is built around the 1.2 TCe 115 EDC powertrain. It combines 115 hp and 190 Nm with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The result is a Clio that remains easy to use in crowded streets while feeling noticeably less strained once the road opens up. Rather than repeating brochure figures, this review focuses on what that means in traffic, on a motorway, for a small family and in fleet use.

How much has the new Renault Clio changed?

The new Clio measures 4,116 mm long and 1,768 mm wide, with a 2,591 mm wheelbase. Those dimensions keep it firmly in the city-friendly part of the B segment. In narrow streets and tight multi-storey car parks, that compact footprint is still one of the car's biggest strengths.

Visually, the front end is sharper and more mature. The lighting signature and the 18-inch wheels available on esprit Alpine make the car look more substantial without turning it into an oversized hatchback.

What is the Renault Clio 2026 like in city traffic?

This is where the Clio feels most natural. The steering is light enough for repeated parking manoeuvres, visibility is straightforward and the 10.4-metre turning circle helps in tight spaces. The automatic gearbox also removes much of the fatigue that comes with stop-start traffic.

The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo engine produces 115 hp and 190 Nm. Zero to 100 km/h takes 10 seconds. More important in daily driving is the stronger mid-range response: with passengers on board, the air conditioning running or a steep ramp ahead, the engine does not feel as breathless as lower-powered small cars often do.

The new Clio keeps compact dimensions that work well in dense traffic and tight parking spaces.

Practical note: When checking a used automatic Clio, pay attention to low-speed gearbox behaviour. Excessive shudder, delayed engagement or harshness should be investigated together with the service history.

Why does the Clio work so well in the B segment?

There is no single headline feature behind the Clio's appeal. Its strength is balance. It is small outside, usable for four adults, has a practical boot, offers manageable fuel consumption and benefits from a broad service network.

Official WLTP combined consumption for the TCe 115 EDC is around 5.0–5.2 L/100 km, depending on specification. Real-world numbers will naturally move with traffic, temperature, trip length and driving style.

Is the Renault Clio 2026 good for long journeys?

Yes. The 115 hp engine and 190 Nm of torque make motorway driving more relaxed than in older low-output versions. At normal motorway speeds it does not need to work excessively hard, and overtaking is easier to plan.

The limitation is the segment rather than the engine. Three adults across the rear bench for several hours will not feel as comfortable as they would in a larger C-segment car. Wheel choice also matters: the 18-inch setup looks more dramatic, while smaller wheels can be friendlier on broken surfaces.

Practical note: If you regularly drive long distances, compare tyre size, driver-assistance equipment and seat comfort before prioritising larger wheels or cosmetic options.

Inside the new Renault Clio

The cabin is one of the clearest signs of progress. The range uses a 10.1-inch multimedia display, while higher specifications add a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. Compatible versions of openR Link integrate Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play, making navigation and everyday connectivity much easier to use.

A larger multimedia system and digital instrumentation give the new Clio a more modern cabin.

Evolution plus or esprit Alpine?

In Turkey, the two main trims are evolution plus and esprit Alpine. Evolution plus already includes useful equipment such as adaptive cruise control, the 10.1-inch multimedia system, keyless entry and start, an electric parking brake and a reversing camera.

Esprit Alpine adds a more visual and technology-focused package with a 10.1-inch digital driver display, 18-inch wheels, front/rear/side parking sensors and wireless phone charging.

Practical note: Compare driver-assistance and parking equipment line by line. Those features usually matter more in daily ownership than a larger wheel design.

Renault Clio 2026 engines

TCe 115 EDC

The main engine currently shown in Renault Turkey's configurator is the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged TCe 115 EDC. It produces 115 hp and 190 Nm, drives the front wheels and uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Top speed is 180 km/h and 0–100 km/h takes 10 seconds.

It suits the Clio well: calm enough in traffic, but no longer restricted to urban duties once the car is loaded or used on faster roads.

Eco-G 120 Auto

Renault has also announced the petrol/LPG Eco-G 120 Auto for the second half of 2026. The brand states 120 hp and an estimated combined range of up to 1,450 km when both fuel tanks are used. Some LPG consumption and emissions figures remain subject to homologation.

For high-mileage drivers, this version could be particularly relevant because fuel cost rather than outright performance often dominates the ownership calculation.

Practical note: Do not assume the new Eco-G behaves exactly like previous LPG Clios. The powertrain and transmission combination is different.

Is the Renault Clio practical for a family?

The petrol version offers up to 391 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,176 litres with the rear seats folded. That is enough for everyday shopping, a pushchair and several travel bags without turning the car into something bulky outside.

Up to 391 litres of luggage capacity makes the Clio useful for small families as well as city commuters.

Practical note: If you use a child seat, install your own seat before making a decision and check how far the front passenger seat has to move forward. That tells you more than a brochure measurement.

Why does the Clio work for fleets and rentals?

Fleet managers look beyond design. Fuel, maintenance, parts availability, service coverage, driver familiarity and resale value all matter. The Clio's long presence in the Turkish market gives it an advantage in exactly those areas.

Its compact dimensions suit urban sales teams and customer visits, while the automatic gearbox reduces fatigue in traffic. The 115 hp engine also means the car is not limited to short inner-city routes.

For shorter use, see short-term rental options. Companies can compare ownership with corporate vehicle rental to understand total operating cost more clearly.

Renault Clio 2026: a familiar formula, now more complete

The new Clio does not try to reinvent the small hatchback. It improves the parts that matter: stronger performance, better connectivity, more driver assistance and a more mature cabin while keeping the compact size that makes it easy to live with.

For city driving it remains an easy fit. For a small family it offers useful space. For fleets it continues to make sense because operating practicality matters as much as showroom appeal. To compare rental options for the new Clio and similar models, contact LenaCars.
